A postdoctoral position is immediately available at Dr. Rui Zhao’s group in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Research interest of the lab is 1) to study brain cancer and genetic disease such as cystic fibrosis using stem cell models and 2) to study basic biological features of mouse and human stem cells. Some of our recent publications include J Neurooncol. 2019. PMID: 30460631;  Cell Rep. 2017. PMID: 29166598; Stem Cell Reports. 2017. PMID: 29141234; Nat Cell Biol. 2017; PMID: 28846095; Stem Cells Dev. 2017; PMID: 27762676.


The successful candidate should be self-motivated, independent, collaborative, and excellent in communication skills. A Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. in molecular and cell biology, genetics, or other relevant areas of biomedical sciences is required. Experience with cell/tissue culture and molecular and cell biology is required. Experience with stem cell research and animal models is preferred.
