The Esker Lab in the Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA, is looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to conduct laboratory and field research in the plant disease epidemiology program. The research focus is on crops like corn, soybean, small grains, and forages. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in plant disease ecology and epidemiology, agronomy, statistics, and mathematical modeling. Proficiency with SAS or R, as well as other programming languages, is desirable. Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, Agronomy, or closely related field. There are excellent opportunities for professional development in the areas of grant writing, extension teaching and supervision of students. Furthermore, there are additional responsibilities that include coordination of laboratory activities for the research group, as well as maintenance of laboratory safety and chemical waste records. Excellent record-keeping skills are necessary to maintain information and data for all scientific projects.
