Job Description
Postdoctoral Fellow in Multinuclear MRI for Osteoarthritis
We invite applications for a postdoctoral fellowship focused on the development of multinuclear magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) methods for assessment of post-traumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) and prediction of the condition’s progression.
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of researchers and physicians working together on a 5-year NIH-funded project to develop combined 1H and 23Na MRI and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) techniques at 3 Tesla field strength. The goal of this research is to combine the imaging techniques with analyses of synovial fluid and biomechanical biomarkers in order to assess PTOA and predict its course.
The postdoctoral fellow will work on protocol development; data acquisition, processing, and analysis; and biological modeling for data interpretation. Motivated individuals will also have the opportunity to engage in independent research within the context of the study.
Qualifications
- The position is open to candidates with a PhD in biomedical engineering or imaging, MR physics, or related fields such as applied or theoretical physics, chemistry, or electrical engineering.
- Self-driven work attitude is a must.
- Experience in sequence programming in IDEA for Siemens systems is a plus.
- A record of peer-reviewed publications is recommended.
- Candidates with a strong background in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) or MRI physics are strongly encouraged to apply.
