Job Description
Postdoctoral Associate will be part of the new BU CTE center tissue culture initiative. This individual will develop and perform research projects aim at understanding the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, like chronic traumatic encephalopathy and Alzheimer’s disease, using both primary human and immortalized neural cells. They will be responsible for planning and implementing tissue culture research goals and troubleshooting problems as they arise. In addition to tissue culture, this individual will have the opportunity to work with human postmortem samples from the CTE brain bank for follow-up histology and genomic analyses. This individual will also obtain firsthand teaching in neurology, neuropathology, and experimental pathology from world-renown experts in the field and be part of cutting-edge neurodegenerative research. Attention to detail and experience with tissue culture is required.
Applicants should have a PhD in neuroscience or a related field. A Minimum 2-4 years of related experience. Ensure all corporate safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met, maintain a clean and well-organized work area, and perform limited other duties assigned by your direct supervisor.

65% The postdoctoral fellow will manage tissue culture experimental projects and room maintenance. They will plan and implement experiments, troubleshoot problems, and manage culture equipment in the culture room.
Essential Functions: 2
25% Data management, analysis, and collaborating with other BU CTE center researchers and staff. Preparing manuscripts for publication.
Essential Functions: 3
10% Responsible for related administrative duties, handling the purchase of lab equipment and supplies and maintain common laboratory supply stock, and placing orders as needed. Assist with any other research activities assigned by supervisor.
