Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, the Attorney is responsible for managing the daily operations of the legal services department of Tarrant County College District.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performance Requirements*
- Supports the Associate General Counsel in providing legal representation for the College
- Oversees and manages legal support and/or interpretations on employment and labor laws, discrimination complaints, grievance processes, and staff, faculty, and student discipline issues
- Performs duties within scope of general College policies, procedures, and objectives
- Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments
- Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired results
- Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices
- Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices
- Oversees and manages legal support on employment matters, Title IX, and student discipline, including applicable laws and regulations
- Oversees and manages the research of legal issues and provides written recommendations and memorandums
- Oversees and manages the District’s public information
- Provide legal support to the Administration and the Office of Human Resources
Service Excellence
- Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as needed to directly support essential performance requirements achievement
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) Institute
- Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity, and service to the College
- Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Works under the general supervision of the Associate General Counsel

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
- Juris Doctorate
- Three (3) years of experience with an entity which provides legal services for governmental entities or equivalent experience
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas
Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures
- Experience in a higher education setting
- Experience with Title IX, ADA, FMLA, and other EEO laws
- Experience in labor and employment law
