Our location in Abbott Park, IL (Lake County) currently has an opportunity for a Postdoctoral Scientist.
This is a post-doctoral fellowship and will last up to Two years.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
This is a 2-year post-doctoral position in a collaborative research program between Abbott Diagnostics and Abbott Diabetes Care divisions. The chosen candidate will participate in design of novel ultrasensitive detection methods for single-cell studies. Will apply advanced methods of fluorescence microscopy and spectroscopy for cell enzyme and metabolite measurements. Will participate in studies related to novel glucose and glycated hemoglobin assays in the discovery phase.
Must work as an independent researcher but will participate in research teams by exchanging information with other team members and conducting multi-dimensional experiments.
Responsibilities:
Designs and conducts experiments, accomplishes established milestones, and summarizes data, interprets, results, and draws conclusions.
Evaluates data using analytical methodologies to achieve results.Optimize assay conditions, improve product design and related processes and procedures, and troubleshoot technical issues
Recommends options for future experiments.
Presents scientific observations to others.
Trains lower-level scientists.
Expertise and Problem Solving: Identifies technical alternatives.
Utilizes multiple analytical instruments.
Anticipates, recognizes, and resolves technical problems.
Project Planning: Participates in project planning, updates, and process improvements.
Implements project plans comprehending resource, budget, facility, and regulatory requirements.
Translates top-level goals to specific project level goals for individual team member.
Establishes and reviews complex plans for multiple projects or activities.
Scientific Leadership: Submits ideas for inventions; publishes; innovates through patent filings and/or scientific publications.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU’LL BRING
Required:
Ph.D. in a Life or Physical Science, Or
B.S. in a Life or Physical Science with 4 plus years related lab/industrial experience, Or
M.S. with 2 plus years relevant experience
Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVD’s and Biologics.
Preferred:
Ph.D. in biophysics, biochemistry or related disciplines preferred.
Required to demonstrate proven skills to be an independent researcher preferred.
Firm grounding in quantitative analysis and related techniques preferred.
Strong experience in fluorescence spectroscopy, live-cell imaging and protein biophysics preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven ability to work in a team setting preferred.
