Administer professional massage and bodywork to SLCC students and employees. Must have a thorough knowledge of numerous massage modalities and possess a general understanding of body treatments. Demonstrate excellent communication skills and knowledge necessary to effectively provide wellness solutions to meet the needs of the client. Educate clients on self-administered techniques that relieve muscle tension. Provide a welcoming, inclusive, and relaxing atmosphere for clients.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Punctuality and prompt with each appointment. Perform services within the appropriate time allotted for the service. Provide consistent professional massage and bodywork in accordance with accepted certification practices. Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls. Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law. Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or clients in massage services that require attention. Handle clients’ questions and concerns professionally and courteously. Perform chair massages as requested.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued
Possess the ability to work without direct supervision. Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment. Must be a team player. Must have enthusiasm and possess excellent customer service skills. Must align work ethic to the goals and mission of the Center for Health & Counseling as a whole. Excellent communication and listening skills, as well as basic computer knowledge. Attend monthly staff meetings.
College health experience. Basic Life Support certification.
Must hold and maintain a current state license. Certified from an accredited massage training institution. One (1) year paid full-time work experience or equivalent required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must possess a variety of massage modalities and skills including but not limited to Swedish massage, aromatherapy massage, deep tissue massage, reflexology, sports massage (athletes), and prenatal massage (pregnant women). Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
