Job Title: Human Resources Consultant

Hourly Rate: $50

FLSA: Non-exempt

 


Job Summary

The HR consultant will be tasked with the following:

1) Developing detailed salary scales for each position in Accomack County Public Schools, including speech therapists, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, instructional assistants, student support monitors, teachers, teachers with master’s degrees, guidance counselors, etc.

2) Reviewing personnel records to ensure each employee is placed on the appropriate salary scale on the step that corresponds to the number of years served in his/her current position plus the number of years of his/her previous experience in similar positions.

3) Reviewing the recently completed compensation study.

4) Assisting the school board in its superintendent search.

5) Assisting the new superintendent and the school board in their collaborative approach to the reorganization of central office, including the writing of job descriptions.

 


This will be a temporary, part-time position with no benefits, with opportunities for remote work.

 


Hours

This position will require on-site hours for some tasks. Most tasks can be completed remotely. This position will require 10-20 hours of work per week for a period of 3-4 months.

 


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

  • Prior work experience as a Human Resources Professional
  • Experience with Compensation Studies
  • Experience with school system reorganizations
  • Experience in a school system setting is preferred

 


Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds; and to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.

Supervision and Job Performance

Supervision is provided by the Superintendent of Schools. The Human Resources Consultant must uphold high standards of confidentiality.
