The Milledgeville campus of Georgia Military College is now accepting applicants for an Assistant Professor in the following discipline: History/Foreign Language.
Applicant must hold a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours or 30 quarter hours in the teaching discipline. Community College teaching experience is highly preferred. Applicant must be willing to teach day, evening, and/or weekend courses, as well as various physical locations and online.
This position is for an Assistant Professor of History. Among the potential courses that could be taught would be World Civilizations I/II, American History I/II along with other 200-level courses. In addition, the ideal candidate will have the ability to teach a foreign language, another discipline can be substituted for Foreign Language, but is less desirable. The language is open, but the candidate must have at least 18 graduate semester hours or 30 graduate quarter hours in the foreign language.
Each assignment will be for 20 quarter hours per term. The typical course is 5 quarter hours, and may include day, evening and Saturday classes. Additional responsibilities of Georgia Military College full-time faculty include maintaining regular office hours for student advisement, curriculum review and development, serving on College committees, and participating in various departmental and college activities.
Masters in history, OR Masters in foreign language with 18 graduate semester hours in history, Or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in history and 18 graduate hours in a foreign language.
The successful candidates should demonstrate evidence of: the ability to relate to diverse groups of people. Strong commitment to teaching. Knowledge of and evidence of a working knowledge of learning styles and teaching techniques. Recent teaching experience at the lower-division college level and the ability to fairly and effectively evaluate student performance. Experience in the development and/or review of courses and curriculum. Effective oral communication and writing ability. Continued professional growth in field. Experience with, or willingness to explore, innovative teaching methodologies. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. Experience and/or knowledge in working with students of great diversity in socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.
Previous Community College teaching experience is preferred.
