Position Overview

The Senior Director, Liquid Biopsy Strategy is a key leadership role responsible for evaluating and defining the strategy for which Exact will enter the patient services market (phlebotomy) for our expanding liquid biopsy portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Strategy, this leader will play a critical role in establishing and leading long-range strategy of the patient services and ensuring the long-term success of our liquid biopsy programs and the company. This role will define, develop, and implement the end-to-end operational processes for patient sample services. This leader will work closely with the executive leadership and business units to coordinate the strategic planning process across different stakeholder groups.

Essential Duties

include but are not limited to the following:

  • As a key leader, act as a critical strategic advisor on decisions affecting the company's ability to achieve our mission to eradicate cancer and achieve profitable growth.
  • Establish and execute our overall patient services and phlebotomy strategy; lead the identification of customer and client interests, analysis market trends, and partnership discovery, etc. to enhance the product portfolio to support growth and positioning in the market.
  • Lead activities to constantly assess the external global business landscape and determine the short-term and long-term vision of the company.
  • Identify and report on emerging market trends pertaining to technology, competitors, government, financial, and other key aspects to the overall health and success of the enterprise.
  • Identify phlebotomy expansion/growth opportunities and develop sound business plans, risk assessment and modeling to help business decision-making and opportunity evaluation.
  • Define, develop, and implement the end-to-end operational processes for phlebotomy services.
  • Analyze market trends of client and customer interest and behaviors to identify and promote new business opportunities.
  • Lead the development of long-term and short-term strategic initiatives and pull-through plans in collaboration with the executive team.
  • Consistent demonstration of exceptional leadership qualities, including but not limited to the ability to attract and retain the best team, foster a culture of high performance, lead with integrity, humility, accountability, and courage, and set a clear vision to energize teams towards the future.
  • Effectively manage, support, and guide your team, including, but not limited to delegating tasks and responsibilities, assess employee performance and provide helpful feedback and training opportunities.
  • Advise executive team on identified risks and opportunities.
  • Present strategic initiatives on a consistent and regular basis to executive leaders to ensure a clear and focused approach.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and hold executive leaders accountable for performance against strategic goals.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
  • Ability to travel 50% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, life sciences or related field and 15 yrs. of relevant experience; master's degree in business administration, life sciences or related field and 13 yrs. of relevant experience; PhD in business, life sciences, or related field and 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong executive presence and collaborative working style with the ability to drive transformation through influence and expertise.
  • Experience leading major strategy and phlebotomy & patient services projects with a positive, lasting outcome and measurable results.
  • Strong management background with industry experience outside of a consulting firm.
  • Located near one of the corporate hubs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working for a global company that specializes in Life Sciences and Pharma.
  • Previous experience developing strategy for Diagnostics companies and in particular Oncology.
  • Previous experience leading and managing national phlebotomy programs.
  • Strong understanding of the liquid biopsy space.
  • PhD in science or medical in background in healthcare.
  • Located at one of Exact's primary laboratory, research or office locations.

Salary Range:

$204,000.00 - $326,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
