Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $113,300- $284,100. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description

The University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and the Department of Pediatrics aim to foster a diverse and inclusive community of scholars to enhance our academic and research missions. The Department of Pediatrics is currently in an exciting period of growth and expansion across our varied divisions and centers of excellence. As part of our ongoing pursuit of clinical innovation and scientific discovery, we seek applications from candidates for the Associate or Full Professor (tenured) faculty positions.

The Department of Pediatrics seeks scientists, physician-investigators, or physician-scientists, with wide experience in healthcare, research, and education and a strong interest in pursuing basic, translational, or clinical research programs pertaining to the field of Cardiology, Genetics, Hem/Onc, Nephrology, Neonatology, Allergy-Immunology & Rheumatology, Environmental Health, Health Disparities, and all subspecialties that have relevance to child health.

The successful candidates will be able to develop extramurally funded research programs and provide leadership in pediatric research. The successful candidates will also be able to build on their academic research career at UCSD with the potential for additional collaborations with scientists, clinicians, and other Departments in the School of Medicine, as well as across campus with the UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering, and Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Longevity Science.

The successful candidates will be responsible for providing high-quality training and teaching and will participate in basic or translational research and/or the clinical care of patients. In addition to the highest standards of scholarship, teaching, and professional activity, candidates are expected to contribute toward the development of a climate that supports equity, inclusion, and diversity.

The appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor level and will be based on the candidate's background and experience. Series will include 50% Ladder Rank / 50% In-Residence with secured extramural funding or 100% Ladder Rank.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must possess an MD or equivalent MD/PHD or PhD in a relevant field of Pediatrics. Candidates with an MD or equivalent must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California and must be board certified or eligible in Pediatrics. Candidates must also have a track record of obtaining research funding.
