Essential Job Functions:
1. Oversee and develop the Doctoral Programs for the Health Science Department.

2. Plan, develop and disseminate marketing brochures, fliers, letters, etc. about doctoral programs for student recruitment.

3. Represent/present doctoral programs at local forums, regional, national and international conferences and meetings.

4. Direct orientation sessions for new students each semester.

5. Act as academic advisor to all doctoral students and track progress of all students, and approve PhD dissertation committee appointments.

6. Facilitate development of new elective courses and arrange course schedules.

7. Provide recommendations to Chair regarding faculty teaching assignments in doctoral program.

8. Oversees the development and evaluation of faculty.

9. Monitors the recruitment of faculty and students.

10. Lead doctoral faculty group in ongoing curriculum review and development.

11. Facilitate summer and winter one-week, on site institutes for students, and oversee the PhD comprehensive examination process.

12. Work with the Dean to facilitate ability of doctoral students to take courses in other centers in NSU.

13. Maintain communication with students regarding upcoming events, courses, etc.

14. Plan, develop and carry out mentoring program for doctoral teaching assistants.

15. Arrange faculty/doctoral students research symposia meetings for speakers.

16. Work with chair on arrangement of graduation for doctoral candidates.

17. Maintain alumni relations.

18. Plan, organize and run doctoral faculty meetings each semester, and a retreat each year.

19. Provide semester administrative reports on the doctoral program to the Chair.

20. Make needed changes and/or additions to catalog and Program brochures.

21. Review expand and revise as necessary:
a. Policies and procedures manual for doctoral students.
b. All required program projects.
c. Doctoral faculty guide.

22. Explore and pursue outside funding opportunities for the doctoral program.

1. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.

2. Ability to effectively present information to students, public groups, or professional organizations in the English language.

3. Ability to work with appropriate mathematical concepts specific to the particular discipline.
