The Nanda Lab in the Division of Molecular and Cellular Pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, is seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows with a background in cardiovascular biology or similar field. The candidates will join a lab implementing a combination of in vitro and in vivo approaches to identify the molecular mechanisms associated with a wide range of cardiovascular diseases including atherosclerosis, aneurysm and peripheral artery disease. 

The duties will include but are not limited to: designing and executing complex experiments, developing new methods, collecting data, critically interpreting results and participating in the preparation of grant applications and manuscripts.  

The candidates will have access to state-of-the-art facilities, an opportunity to benefit from strong collaborations and receive additional mentoring from established faculty including Drs. Rakesh Patel and Yabing Chen.  

Candidates must have

  • PhD degree in life sciences or related disciplines

  • Strong hands on experience in cell biology, molecular biology as well as animal handling techniques

  • Excellent written and communication skills


Additional qualifications (not required) include

  • Knowledge in bioinformatics and genomics

  • Experience with gene editing techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9
