POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, SANTOS FELLOWCenter for Transportation and Logistics (CTL)-AgeLab/New England University Transportation Center, to work with cutting edge experimental and naturalistic data (with support from the Santos Family Foundation) to enhance societal understanding of driver safety in areas encompassing driver attention (distraction), advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and other higher-level forms of automated driving. Will collaborate with senior researchers to explore novel data sets; lead and contribute to the development of joint publications, participate in conferences, share results with laboratory partners, and collaborate with the research team on defining research priorities; and design, analyze, and report data gathered through basic laboratory experimentation, driving simulation, field experimentation, and naturalistic driving, with an emphasis on developing the foundations of research needed to influence the design and development of vehicle safety systems.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in industrial engineering, psychology, human factors, computer science, public health, or a relevant field; a demonstrated record of initiative and originality in research; strong analytic skills; and familiarity with statistical software tools such as R, SAS, or MATLAB. Preference will be given to those whose training, skills, and research interests complement the research interests of the MIT research team and are in accord with the mission of the Santos Family Foundation-to improve vehicular safety for drivers, passengers, and vulnerable road users. Job #18575
