We are seeking a motivated, creative, postdoctoral fellow to join a basic/translational research team focused on cardiometabolic disease. We study signaling mechanisms related to development of cardiovascular disease, and the impact of local adipose tissue on cells of the vessel wall. Our experimental approaches include analysis using cell and molecular biology techniques, genetic mouse models, derivation and study of primary cell cultures, analysis of human disease specimens and relation to clinical phenotype, and proteomics analysis of molecular signatures to define unique disease profiles. Competency and desire to develop expertise in these areas will be supported. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in research design, data analysis, manuscript writing and publication, oral presentation of research, and have strong communication and documentation skills. This individual is expected to contribute to the efficient functioning of a research lab as well as develop and implement her/his own research project. Our lab team has an additional interest in mentorship and outreach, and in communicating science and research as a benefit to our society.

  • Position Summary

    Conducts a variety of complex laboratory procedures and is able to conduct independent research in consultation with the principal investigator. The research fellow has a sufficient level of experience, expertise and independence to conduct a defined research project, including project inception and design, implementation, and completion, with reporting of results in a peer reviewed forum consisting of oral and written presentation.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: A doctoral degree (e.g. PhD, MD, DO, DVM, PharmD)

  • License/Certifications: N/A

  • Experience: N/A

  • Communication skills that are sufficiently developed that the individual at this level will be able to present research results at regional and national research conferences

  • The research fellow will have demonstrated a level of independence to perform laboratory responsibilities.
