The College of Lake County seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in animation and video production. Additional experience in audio production is desirable. This is a joint position between the Art Department and Digital Media and Design Department. The ideal candidate will teach computer art and animation courses in the Art Department and animation, video, audio and digital media courses in the Digital Media and Design Department. Functioning and communicating seamlessly with faculty between the two departments is crucial to the success of the position. The candidate will demonstrate motivation in student success through academic advisement, curriculum development and promotion of courses in both departments. The position serves a full range of community college students including transfer, career program, returning and non-traditional populations. The candidate will be a dedicated educator with relevant professional experience in animation, video production, audio production and/or an active artist with a proven professional exhibition record using animation, video and audio within their work.

Master of Arts degree (MA) in Animation, Film/Video or related field
Experience working with 2D & 3D animation and Adobe Creative Cloud software
Evidence of a professional animation, film, video and/or art exhibition practice
Evidence of continued professional activity
Demonstrated evidence of commitment to diversity and inclusion
Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA) in Animation, Film/Video or related field.
Additional experience in audio recording and production is desirable
1-3 years of college teaching experience beyond graduate school teaching assistantships
Community college teaching experience
Teaching and professional experience in one or more of the following areas: 2D animation, 3D modeling and animation, stop motion, motion graphics, visual effects, video production and editing, audio recording and production
Proficiency working with the following software: Adobe Creative Cloud including: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, After Effects, Maxon Cinema 4D, Pixologic ZBrush, Apple Final Cut Pro, Apple Logic. Avid ProTools and Steinberg Cubase is desirable
Experience with video cameras, SLR cameras, lighting equipment, microphones, audio production equipment
Ability to teach all levels of 2D and 3D computer animation and video courses
Advanced skills in 3D animation, modeling, character rigging, composting and special effects
Proven experience developing college-level art and digital media curriculum
Demonstrated experience developing and teaching online or hybrid courses
Experience effectively communicating with an ethnically and culturally diverse student population
Bilingual in Spanish and English

This is a full-time, tenure track faculty position. Salary placement is commensurate with education and experience. The minimum 2020 – 2021 academic year (Fall & Spring Semester) base salary range is $59,807 with a master’s degree to $75,944 with a doctorate in the subject field. Optional contract for the summer session offers potential for significantly greater earnings.
Faculty may be assigned to any of the three CLC campuses; Grayslake, Lakeshore or Southlake. New faculty hires are required to attend orientation the week prior to the start date of August 17, 2020.
Foreign Transcripts: Transcripts issued outside the United States require a course-by-course analysis with an equivalency statement from a certified transcript evaluation service verifying the degree equivalency to that of an accredited institution within the USA.

Total Hours per weekFifteen (15) load hours and ten (10) office hours.
Varies according to course schedule. Ability to teach days, evening and weekends as determined by the needs of the program in any given semester. Ability to teach at all campus locations as needed (Grayslake, Lakeshore or Southlake).
