The Research Scientist position requires strong chemistry, animal behavior, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemical and organizational skills. Research Scientist performs and oversees experiments requiring medicinal chemistry, drug testing in animals, and screening drug candidates using cell culture and molecular biology technologies. Work will be performed independently and/or in support of postdoctoral researchers and students through collaboration, supervision and training. Outlines of experiments and goals of the projects are determined in collaboration with Principal Investigator. Research scientist is responsible for design and execution of experimental procedures appropriate to the goals of the project. Perform scientific literature evaluation to optimize design of experiments and research strategies. Research Scientist will maintain accurate and complete records of experiments in lab notebooks and/or computer-based tracking database. Research Scientist will contribute significantly to the organization of the lab (e.g. databases, repositories, stocks, equipment and hiring). Ideal applicant will have an intense interest in curing AD.

Education:

Required:

  • PhD in chemistry.

Experience:

Required:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in chemistry, animal studies, immunohistology cell biology and molecular biology.

  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data. Experience designing new experiments as new techniques are established.

  • Experience researching, gathering data and organizing information in order to produce clear and concise reports.

  • Experience training and advising staff on research techniques.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and extended hours as needed to support research needs.

  • Must be willing to work in an animal-related research environment.

  • Satisfactory completion of the Institute’s background investigation.

  • Must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires constant seeing, sitting, analyzing, calculating, reading, reasoning and working inside.
