If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.
We are seeking a post-doctoral fellow with a background in battery materials to help us unlock the potential of new energy storage technologies. Examples include but are not limited to inventing new materials and processes that enable 3D-printed Li-ion batteries.

As a post-doctoral fellow in Battery Materials, you will support ongoing research projects and initiate new efforts to pursue innovative research in Power and Energy Materials. This fellowship is for a one-year term, renewable for the second year upon the successful completion of the first year.
The duties will include:
•Providing support for ongoing projects in Li-ion batteries and 3D-printed materials.
•Performing innovative research in Power and Energy materials.
•Developing proposals, preparing technical reports, and communicating your research in peer-reviewed journals.



You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you;

•Have a PhD. degree in chemistry, materials science and engineering, or a related discipline.

•Have an understanding of synthesis/characterization of materials.

•Have a strong background with innovative research and publication.

•Are a standout colleague and have excellent communication skills.

•Are willing and able to travel occasionally to attend meetings with sponsors and academic conferences.

•Are able to obtain a Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you;
•Have 2+ years of fabricating and characterizing electrochemical devices including Li-ion batteries.
•Have 2+ years of research experience in 3D-printed materials.
•Have experience in synthesizing/characterizing battery materials (e.g. electrochemical stability window, ionic conductivity, etc.)

•Have experience in synthesizing new organic molecules.

•Have experience in Zn-air batteries.

•Have a solid understanding of electrochemistry.

•Have experience in bio-electrochemistry.
