Quantum Scientist – Experimental Quantum Optics-22377 

 

Position Description
 

 

Are you a Quantum Scientist with experimental quantum optics expertise focused on the light matter interactions of either atomic or solid-state systems like optical quantum dots or NV-diamond?
 
Do you want to work on a broad set of projects with a vibrant team of experimental and theoretical physicists? 
 
If so, we are looking for someone like you to join our team to define the state of the art in quantum research!
 
As a Quantum Scientist at APL you will...

•Contribute to and help lead an experimental research effort in quantum sensing.

•Cultivate new programs by identifying emerging opportunities and challenges with a focus on exploiting quantum effects.
 
•Support ongoing programs in quantum information science.

 

 

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...


•Have a PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. 
•Have significant experimental optics experience with individual or ensembles of atoms (or artificial atoms).
•Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Have a demonstrated record of research accomplishment and publications in the field of quantum science.
•Are willing to occasionally travel to sponsor sites, conferences and workshops. 
•Are able to obtain TS/SCI level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

 

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

 

•Have significant experience modeling multi-level, multi-atom, light-matter interactions.
•Have a record of significant contributions on team-oriented projects pursuing highly complex objectives. 
•Have experience with related quantum systems such as superconducting qubit experimental platforms
•Have experience collaborating closely with theorists.
