Postdoctoral Researcher - Quantum Characterization and Control-22073 


Position Description


Are you a Quantum Information Scientist with expertise in statistical methods, quantum characterization, quantum control, and algorithm development?
Do you want to work on a broad set of projects with a vibrant team of experimental and theoretical physicists? 
If so, we are looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.
As a Quantum Information Postoctoral Researcher at APL you will...

•Support ongoing programs in quantum information science by making immediate contributions to efforts that are looking to integrate quantum characterization and control into the quantum compilation stack in a hardware agnostic manner. 
•Perform independent research and cultivate new programs by identifying emerging opportunities and challenges with a focus on quantum control and noise characterization, quantum algorithm development, quantum error correction, or quantum architectures.

You meet our minimum qualifications if you...


•Have a PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
•Have significant experience in Quantum Information Science.
•Experience with programming and software development.
•Have a demonstrated record of research accomplishment and publications in the field of quantum information science.
•Are willing to occasionally travel to sponsor sites, conferences and workshops.
•Are able to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and need to meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.


You meet our desired qualifications if you...


•Have experience with advanced Bayesian statistical inference and signal processing such as Markov-chain Monte Carlo, sequential Monte Carlo, etc.
•Knowledge and experience implementing machine learning protocols.
•Have high-performance-computing experience.
•Have experience collaborating closely with experimentalists.
•Have a record of significant contributions on team-oriented projects pursuing highly complex objectives.
