Position Summary

Portland Community College is accepting applications for Part-Time Faculty to teach in the Addictions Counseling Program’s Workforce Diversity Grant at the Cascade Campus.  This grant program is focused on supporting underrepresented populations who are currently employed in an addiction services provider or a mental health provider that offers addiction recovery services.

We are looking for Instructors to teach the below courses as part of this grant program.  All grant program classes are scheduled for Fridays between 8-5pm and start in Fall 2019.

AD101: Alcohol Use and Addiction

AD102: Drug Use and Addiction

AD103: Women and Addiction

AD106: Smoking Cessation

AD152: Group Counseling

AD153: Theories of Counseling

AD154: Client Record Management

AD156: Ethical and Professional Issues

AD160: Basic Counseling

AD161: Motivational Interviewing

AD255: Multiple Diagnoses

Candidate Profile

Instructor Qualifications

All new instructors will have one of the following:

Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, human service, human development, sociology, social work or related discipline, and be a current Certified Addiction Counselor Level II (or equivalent) or a current Certified Prevention Specialist (or equivalent), and have a minimum of five years of experience working with chemically or behaviorally addicted or at risk populations, OR

Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, human service, human development, sociology, social work or related discipline, and have a minimum of five years of experience working with chemically or behaviorally addicted or at risk populations, OR

Doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, human service, human development, sociology, social work or related discipline, or a clinical doctorate degree (MD or DO only), and at least one year of working with chemically or behaviorally addicted or at risk populations, or as a researcher in the arena of behavior and/or neuroscience

Success Criteria

Available to teach on Fridays, between 8am-5pm

Experience teaching, or working with, culturally and educationally diverse populations

Preference will be given to instructors who have the knowledge, experience, and availability to teach multiple classes

Part-Time Faculty Compensation

2018-19 Hourly Rates: (rates will be updated for 2019-20 when available)

Lecture $59.66/hour

Lab $44.15/hour

Lecture/Lab $48.03/hour

Note: All newly hired Part-time Faculty will start at Step 1

PCC Benefits

PCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. Includes Health, Dental, and Vision options, Group Life, Long-term Disability, Long-term Care, and Auto and Home Insurance programs. Benefits are pro-rated for part-time employees.

Part-time faculty health insurance eligibility is based on workload during the previous academic year.  Once eligible, available insurance plans include Health, Dental, and Vision options, as well as Long-term Care.

PCC currently fully funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP.  Part-time faculty may be eligible for PERS/OPSRP if they meet the requirement of six months of employment and are working 600 hours or more per year.  PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and children under 24 years of age, as well as tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

Paid LeAve: 

- 2 hours sick leave per pay period, up to 32 hours per year; a maximum of 8 hours of accrued sick leave per academic year may be used for personal reasons.
