The Plant Systems Biology group within the Biosciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks two postdoctoral researchers with experience in plant genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry or physiology. The selected postdoctoral researchers will work on the Center for Bioenergy Innovation project ( https://cbi.ornl.gov/ ) to functionally characterize genes and pathways regulating biomass productivity and characteristics, as well as its conversion to biofuels. Examples of recent publications from this project include Xie et al. (2018) Plant Cell 30: 1645-1660, Zhang et al. (2018) New Phytologist 220: 502-516, and Muchero et al. Major Duties / Responsibilities
The Plant Systems Biology Group seeks to explore and understand the network of genes, proteins, metabolites, and environmental signals that lead to improved plant characteristics and performance. The selected candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of investigators undertaking broad, integrated approaches to enhance fundamental understanding of genetic controls on plant productivity, sustainability and plant-microbe interactions in bioenergy-relevant plants.
A Ph.D. in plant biology, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or related fields is required. Prior knowledge and demonstrated expertise in molecular, genetic and biochemical characterizations of genes and pathways are required.
The selected candidate will work with Populus and other model systems (i.e., Arabidopsis , tobacco, switchgrass and rice). Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team are required.
