West Virginia University Research Corporation in the Department of Biology is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow (Research Corporation Employee). This position is responsible for developing and refining models of plant-microbial interactions as part of the Center for Biofuels and Bioproducts Innovation (CABBI), a DOE funded Bioenergy Research Center. This position will work with Dr. Eddie Brzostek and will join a diverse group of researchers in the Sustainability Theme of CABBI.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Develop a predictive model of plant-microbial interactions across a variety of ecosystems.
Synthesize existing data to generate validation for model developments.
Lead field campaigns to measure the response of plant-microbial interactions in ecosystems to environmental change.
Perform chemical analyses of plant and soil samples in the lab.
Manage hourly student workers to ensure proper sample analysis and data quality control.
Travel to remote field sites to collect plant and soil samples.
Communicate research orally at scientific meetings as well as written publications in scientific journals.
Assist in the preparation of grant proposals to federal agencies including DOE, NSF, and USDA.
