Job Description

The candidate will perform cell and molecular biology work relating to development of small molecule therapies for high containment viruses and development of tissue models for studying infection and disease treatment. The work will involve evaluating the action and activity of small molecules for inhibiting virus infection. High throughput screening techniques will be applied at high containment and followed up with mechanistic analysis of activity using biochemical and cell biology techniques. Therapies will be evaluated in animal models but will also involve development of tissue models as substitutes for preclinical treatment evaluation. The work will be performed in part in the NEIDL BSL4 laboratory.

 

  • Must have graduated from a PhD graduate program from an accredited school.

  • Specific skills required are cell cultivation and RNA and DNA transfection methods.

  • Must have published manuscripts in peer reviewed journals.

  • Experience with blood and tissue derived primary cell types, including macrophages is highly desirable.

  • Previous experience working with viruses is also desirable.

  • Previous experience with statistical analysis of disease model data and quantitative analysis of microscopy images is desirable.

  • Must be able to train and work at BSL4 with Ebola virus or similar viruses.

  • Assist in experimental design and communicate results.

  • Must be able to pass a FBI background check and be approved for work with select agents.

Work Experience Level: Less than 12 months – 3 years of Experience Required  

 

Education: Doctoral Degree Required
