Postdoctoral Researcher Position in the Department of Cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology (CDIB) at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

Research will be conducted in the laboratory of Dr. Etty (Tika) Benveniste, PhD.  The position involves the study of immune-nervous system interactions in animal models of Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease.

His/her duties will be:

  • Work in pre-clinical models of MS and PD to evaluate how the immune system contributes to neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration.

  • Analyze immune cells that infiltrate into the CNS by flow cytometry and RNAseq.

  • Use of small molecule inhibitors of various immune signaling pathways (JAK/STAT) to determine contribution to disease pathogenesis.

Highly motivated candidates with strong research background in immunology, neurobiology, flow cytometry, molecular biology, tissue culture, RNAseq and animal research, are especially encouraged to apply.  

A Ph.D. or equivalent degree is required. Experience with immunology and flow cytometry is highly desired.
