The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is committed to providing quality undergraduate and Master's-level graduate education. Our department offers ACS-certified Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry. In addition, we offer research-based Master of Science degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry. We offer small classes, individualized attention and hands-on learning using state-of-the-art instrumentation. Our faculty strive to maintain excellence in classroom teaching and in their research. All of our graduate students and a significant number of our undergraduates conduct research with faculty, often resulting in co-authored research publications. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, California State University, Northridge invites applications for a tenure-track position in Analytical Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor. All areas of specialization will be considered, but the Department is particularly interested in applicants who would broaden our current expertise. The successful hire will have teaching responsibilities in general chemistry as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in his/her specialty. The hire also will be expected to establish a research program involving undergraduate and M.S. students at CSUN and secure external funding. A Ph.D. is required and postdoctoralexperience is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment and ability to teach, mentor and work with a diverse student population.

At the time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States.

· Develop an independent research program involving undergraduate and Master's students.
· Seek and obtain extramural funding.
· Demonstrate teaching excellence in general chemistry as well as upper division and graduate level courses in specialty.
· Participate in department, college, and/or university service.
