A full time position is available immediately at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry Ocular Surface Clinical Eye Research Facility (OcCERF) under the direction of Drs. Jason and Kelly Nichols. The position will be focused on clinical research and will include work on both investigator initiated and sponsored research in areas that may include dry eye disease, meibomian gland dysfunction, contact lenses, pharmaceuticals, allergy, and infection. While the work is clinical in nature, it may also include study related management activities, including recruitment, protocol development, regulatory documentation creation and management, development of reports and analyses, and presentation of findings.
Required qualifications include
OD or foreign equivalent
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work with patients in a clinical or research setting
Willingness to work with a collaborative translational research team
Experience with Microsoft Excel
Preferred qualifications include
Experience or interest in cornea/contact lenses/anterior segment/dry eye/meibomian gland disease
Experience in clinical research
MS or PhD in vision science or related
