Job Description
The Director, Human Resources is a strategic position, leading the human resource functions of the College including organizational design and planning, employee relations and recognition, benefits, compensation and classification systems, collective bargaining and labor relations activities, facilitating successful recruitment processes, ensuring compliance with all federal/state statutes relative to employment issues, managing the professional development program, and developing and administering a performance evaluation system. The Director is expected to be proactive in relevant policy development and procedure implementation and developing cooperative relationships with key internal and external constituencies to produce mutual benefit around common issues.
This is an exempt, administrator position requiring an annually reviewed contract. The incumbent is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package offering medical, dental, and vision coverage; generous paid time off; tuition assistance; and retirement savings.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree and SPHR or SHRM-SPC professional certification

Required Experience
At least five (5) years of direct progressive HR leadership experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

 

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic management skills
  • Working understanding of employment law and other government compliance requirements such as EEO, AAP, FLSA, ADA, and Title IX, etc.
  • Ability to collaborate with leaders to drive change in culture and management practices
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office products and applications

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with HRIS systems
Experience with strategic planning and developing metrics

Hours per Week
40 - 100%
