POSITION TITLE: People Operations and Analytics Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

Scripps Research has an exciting opportunity for a Director of People Operations and Analytics to join our expanding People (HR) team. In this new role, you'll lead the development and direction of the People Analytics function, reporting directly to the Senior Director of People Operations and Total Rewards. You'll be tasked with translating complex data into actionable insights, focusing on critical workforce analytics like employee engagement, diversity, performance, and turnover.

Your responsibilities will encompass leadership in data governance and technology implementation, overseeing current systems (UKG Pro) and future integrations (like Workday). As a trusted advisor to the VP of People, you'll evaluate and manage software implementations, including HRIS, LMS, ATS, and employee engagement platforms (such as Lattice or CultureAmp).

Your role will involve independently identifying appropriate data sources, metrics, and methodologies, prioritizing proactive initiative, innovative thinking, and effective storytelling with data. Additionally, you'll contribute to team development through hands-on advanced analysis.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute an organizational strategy for people data aligned with broader business objectives. Craft compelling narratives with data to promote data literacy among stakeholders.
  • HRIS Optimization: Drive accuracy and insights. Identify opportunities for automation and process enhancement, collaborating with cross-functional teams on implementation.
  • Business Process Enhancement: Conduct regular business process reviews, offering ongoing suggestions and action plans. This may involve installation, customization, development, and/or upgrades to applications, systems, and modules.
  • Vendor Management: Lead the sourcing of new software programs, oversee implementation, contract renewals, and external vendor management for the People team, in close collaboration with IT.
  • Data Analysis and Insights: Collaborate with the People team and institute leaders to identify key business questions and design analyses accordingly. Develop and maintain data tools, performing advanced analysis to deliver timely insights.
  • Insights Delivery: Streamline the delivery of insights to business and People leadership, enabling self-service and scalability through strategic partnerships. Tell compelling stories with data and foster data literacy among partners. Create resources, dashboards, and training as needed.
  • Project Management: Demonstrate exceptional project management skills, effectively planning, prioritizing, and driving multiple projects to successful completion within defined timelines.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Data Analytics or Human Resources, Data Science or Analytics, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of analytics experience, with at least 7 years focused on People/HR analytics and 5 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Proficiency in tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Excel PivotTables, PivotCharts, VLOOKUP, advanced Excel formulas, SQL, and HRIS systems such as UKG and Workday.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and statutes related to employment, benefits, and payroll.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple critical projects with various deadlines.
  • Excellent collaborative skills, working effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
  • This is an on-campus position requiring 4 days per week working onsite from our La Jolla campus, with flexibility to work 1 day per week remotely from home.

COMPENSATION:

The expected hiring range for this position is $160,000 to $180,000/annually, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
