Mentor: Jeremy Day, PhD
, Assistant Professor, Department of Neurobiology, University of Alabama at Birmingham, E-mail: email@example.com
The Day Lab in the Department of Neurobiology is seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow. Research in the Day Lab uses animal and cell culture research models to dissect how experiences alter the brain, with the goal of understanding processes such as memory formation and addiction. We are specifically interested in the molecular and epigenetic mechanisms that regulate neuronal function. The candidate filling this position will work on cutting-edge projects that integrate molecular, genetic, and epigenetic tools with techniques that probe the function of single neurons and entire neuronal circuits.
Ideal postdoctoral candidates will have a strong publication record, demonstrate a dedication to research, and be highly motivated to learn new approaches and contribute to lab dynamics. Individuals seeking a postdoc position should contact the lab directly (firstname.lastname@example.org) and attach a short synopsis of previous and future research directions, a CV, and the contact information for references. Preference will be given to candidates that are motivated to obtain outside research support and hope to become an independent investigator in the future.
Postdoc Awards and Benefits
Competitive postdoc awards are available including internships, grant incentives, funds to enhance education and collaboration outside UAB, and teaching opportunities at local universities. There is also a Postdoc Research Day with monetary awards. The OPE strongly encourages UAB research mentors to follow the National Research Service Award stipend level guidelines, and postdoctoral scholars qualify for health, life, and other insurances. They also have the right to participate in the university’s 403(b) program and enjoy vacation, sick leave, maternity/paternity leave, and other benefits.
