Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated, smart, highly rigorous, and insightful immunologist to join the Nilu Goonetilleke research group. This lab focuses on T cell immunity to infectious diseases mostly in people. Research ranges from basic studies of T cell signaling to first-in-man testing of infectious disease vaccines. This postdoctoral position will focus on two projects. The first being a detailed description of T cell immunity to chlamydial infection in women. This project is part of a multi-lab, international collaboration aiming to develop a vaccine against chlamydia. The second project will focus on T cell immunity to HIV. This project has more flexibility and will reflect the successful candidate’s experience and research interests. Examples of projects include characterizing T cell responses to vaccination or detailed studies of natural infection cohorts. If desired, the applicant would receive training in clinical trial design and approvals. The successful applicant will be a team player and a wonderful lab citizen. The successful applicant will be someone who loves to read and talk about science. To the best of our ability, we will support the applicant’s career ambitions and provide ongoing training and mentorship. .

Educational Requirements

Ph.D. in Immunology or Vaccinology or other related fields is required.

Qualifications and Experience

Extensive experience in cell culture in BSLII and, or BSLII+ required.

Extensive experience in data analysis including basic application of biostatics required.
A minimum of 1 first-author paper within the past 3 years.
Experience of flow cytometry and immune assays preferred.
Experience in human immunology research would be of benefit but not mandatory.
Experience in both writing up and oral presentation of data.

This position is best suited for applicants with 0-3 years of postdoctoral experience.
