A full-time Post-Doctoral Research Scientist position is available at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences. The position is part of a project to develop agent-based model/data assimilation systems for simulating the incidence and transmission of anti-microbial resistant pathogens in hospital environments, including among COVID-19 patients. For this project, a suite of mathematical models and Bayesian inference methods will be developed and used in conjunction with data derived from electronic health records (EHR). The postdoc will support all aspects of this project, including analysis of EHR, construction of time-evolving patient networks, development of agent-based simulation system, and construction and application of the associated Bayesian inference approach.
Minimum Degree Required
Candidates applying for this position must have or be near completion of a doctoral degree in Computational Biology, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Epidemiology or a related discipline.
Experience programming in languages such as Matlab, R, or Python is required.
Persons with a strong background and interest in Bayesian statistics, mathematical modeling and/or infectious disease dynamics are encouraged to apply.
