A NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available to investigate the molecular mechanism and functional role of membrane trafficking in dendritic cells at the Shin Laboratory in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Sandler Asthma Basic Research Center, Immuno X of the University of Califonia San Francisco (UCSF). 

This investigation will include examining how the transmembrane ubiquitin ligase MARCH1 controls membrane trafficking and contributes to dendritic cell function of driving T cell immunity. Mouse models will be used for in vivo studies, and various cell biological and biochemical assays including confocal microscopy and proteomics will be also used. Individuals who are interested in understanding the molecular detail of dendritic cell biology and utilizing this understanding for the development of novel therapeutics are encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, or immunology with extensive experience in cell culture, protein chemistry, microscopy, molecular biology, flow cytometry, and/or animal models.

Strong communication skills and at least one peer-reviewed first author publication are required.
