The Younger Lab is searching for exceptional PhD-level Research Scientists to design, implement, and execute projects focused on genome regulation in the context of rare pediatric diseases. These highly translational projects will center around the development of experimental models and approaches to facilitate the functional characterization of rare genetic variants identified in patients at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Applicants must have a PhD in molecular biology, genetics, or a related field and an established publication record. Postdoctoral experience is preferred but not required. Candidates that have demonstrated experience with functional genomics approaches are highly encouraged to apply. The Younger Lab is affiliated with the new Children's Research Institute at Children's Mercy Kansas City and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Kansas Medical Center. The lab is temporarily operating out of Children's Mercy Hospital until construction of the new Children's Research Institute facility has been completed in Summer/Fall 2020.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D or MD or related doctoral level degree in a relevant discipline.

  • 1-2 years’ experience direct experience.

    • Experience in basic molecular biology including RNA and DNA isolation.

    • Experience in mammalian cell culture.

    • A firm grounding in statistical and computational methods relevant to the analysis of NGS data.

    • Preferable knowledge of other relevant subjects related to the project including epigenetics, and genetic engineering.

  • Software Application Skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
