Adler University’s Department of Psychology invites applications for a full-time, core faculty position within the Clinical Psychology (PsyD) Program at the Chicago Campus; starting Fall 2019 or Spring 2020. We are seeking applications from psychologists with expertise in child and adolescent psychology, psychological assessment, and military psychology. Veterans Administration (VA) employees are strongly encouraged to apply.

The candidate must have earned a doctorate (PsyD or PhD) in clinical psychology or a related discipline from an APA-accredited institution. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate a strong record of graduate-level teaching and evidence of scholarship, leadership, and other professional activities. Primary duties include teaching doctoral students, chairing dissertations, student advisement and mentoring, and serving on institutional and departmental committees. Applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to socially responsible practice, issues of social justice, and individual diversity. Preferred candidates are licensed as clinical psychologists or must become licensed by the end of the first year of employment. It is also expected that each faculty member engages in scholarship as well as in service activities within the institution, the community, and the profession. The candidate should have expertise in and be able to teach in two or more of the following areas:

  • Cognitive and intellectual assessment

  • Personality assessment

  • Child and adolescent psychopathology and psychotherapy

  • Psychological assessment of children and adolescents

  • Psychology of combat and conflict

  • Trauma-informed psychotherapy

  • The treatment of military personnel, veterans, retirees, and their families


Faculty members are expected to teach 21 credits per year; develop syllabi and teaching materials related to courses taught; and collaborate with department faculty on curriculum and program policies. In addition, faculty engage in student learning assessment activities, as well as participate in professional development activities. Faculty are expected to chair 6 dissertations by the 3rd year of employment and be a member of 6 additional dissertation committees.


Faculty members are expected to engage in scholarship activities, which may include submissions to peer-review journals or professional and/or lay readership publications; present at academic and professional conferences; and develop and deliver professional workshops and training programs for professionals.


Faculty members are expected to serve on committees at the campus, department, and professional level. Faculty must demonstrate engagement in service to community and profession.

Official transcripts of graduate study and degree completion will be required prior to contract finalization, and salary shall be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Adler University operates on a 10-month academic calendar for its teaching faculty.
