One NIH funded post-doctoral fellowship is available immediately in the laboratories of Dr. Anupam Agarwal and Dr. James George at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. These laboratories are engaged in the study of the mechanisms of inflammation, pathogenesis and recovery in the context of acute and chronic kidney injury. The successful candidates will use cell culture, next generation sequencing, flow cytometry, molecular biology, and protein chemistry for significant and innovative advances directed towards a serious clinical problem for which there are no effective treatments. These laboratories maintain a close-knit collegial scientific environment in which individual scientific contributions are valued. Post-doctoral fellows are encouraged to develop their proficiency as independent, funded investigators.
