The West Virginia University Research Corporation Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute is seeking applications for a Research Scientist.

 

In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:

  • Use mass spectrometer to measure cholesterol and cholesterol metabolites. This requires an ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain the mass spectrometer including the liquid and gas chromatograph front end.

  • Detect and quantify response elements in brain tissue.

  • Train laboratory personnel in the use of mass spectrometer and response elements

  • Collect and analyze data, and write reports suitable for publication

  • Attend and participate in departmental and HSC seminars. meetings and eve nts

 

Qualifications

 

  • PhD or MD or equivalent experience

  • Five (5) years of experience in eel! and molecular biology, protein biochemistry, sequencing, bioinformatics, and data mining.

  • Ability to operate and maintain mass spectrometer to measure cholesterol and cholesterol metabolites from blood and brain samples.

  • Detect and quantify response elements in brain tissue samples.

  • Train personnel in the use of mass spectrometer and detection and quantification of response elements
