Mentor: Colin Reily, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, The University of Alabama at Birmingham.email@example.com.
This is a new T32 position in the Division of Nephrology, Department of Medicine that is currently open.
Dr. Reily’s laboratory focuses on glycobiology of an autoimmune disease, IgA nephropathy. The disease is characterized in part by the abnormal O-glycosylation of the immunoglobulin IgA1 (IgA1). The projects involved in this position integrate single-cell transcriptomic analysis and molecular biology techniques related to immunology and IgA1 O-glycosylation in IgA nephropathy. This is a unique opportunity for combining big data, clinical specimens, and bench-side research to understand the disease pathobiology. We have amazing clinical collaborations and interdisciplinary collaborations that together enable for translational projects necessary to deliver high-quality outcomes. We are looking for a candidate with interest and experience in bioinformatics or willing to learn bioinformatics approaches, and a background in some basic techniques such as cell culture, immunodetection (ELSISA, western blotting), PCR, FACS etc.
Please send CV and/or questions about application process to Colin Reily to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
