Job Description:
Louisiana State University of Alexandria invites qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Department of Accounting and Finance. This is a full-time, nine-month position beginning in Fall 2023. The College of Business is ACBSP accredited and currently offers a BS in Accounting and a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting. Within the BS in Accounting, two concentrations are offered: (1) Accounting Information Systems and Data Analytics, and (2) Fraud and Forensic Accounting.
 
Position Description and Responsibilities: Responsible for teaching in the Accounting program while fulfilling all the normal duties and responsibilities of a faculty member at Louisiana State University of Alexandria. These duties include maintaining academic qualifications for ACBSP, advising students, and performing appropriate departmental, university and community service. Teaching responsibilities are at the undergraduate level. Teaching load will consist of 12 hours per semester and may include face to face, online, and hybrid courses. Summer teaching opportunities may be available.
 
Minimum qualifications: Qualifications for an Assistant Professor include a PhD or DBA in Accounting and at least three years of university level teaching experience in accounting. ABD applicants will be considered provided that degree will be completed within the next two years. An applicant with an MBA (18 hours of upper level accounting), Master in Professional Accountancy, or Master of Science in Accounting will be considered for the rank of Instructor. An active CPA or CMA license, relevant accounting experience, face to face and online teaching experience, and course development are preferred. A commitment to and/or evidence of scholarly research is required for all ranks. Accounting courses to be taught are dependent on the Department’s faculty needs. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a commitment to high quality teaching and intellectual contribution as well as exhibit excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
