Lincoln University Presidential Search

The Board of Curators of Lincoln University invites nominations and applications for the 20th President of Lincoln University. Lincoln University is a Historically Black, 1890 public Land-Grant University, serving a growing population of students of diverse backgrounds.  Based on a strong liberal-arts core, it offers high-quality undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs to more than 2,800 total students.

Located in Missouri's capital of Jefferson City, midway between St. Louis and Kansas City, the region offers excellent business, governmental, cultural, and recreational opportunities. With a population of nearly 40,000, Jefferson City hosts many statewide sporting events and is considered a gateway to the nearby Lake of the Ozarks recreation area.

Reporting to the Board of Curators, the President of Lincoln University serves as the chief executive officer of the institution.  The President must be a visionary leader and highly respected manager with the unquestionable ability to inspire students, faculty, and staff to achieve the highest levels of excellence. The President assures the effective stewardship and management of the 123 full-time faculty, 223 full-time staff, $35M operating budget and other capital resources of the university, ensuring efficacy, fiscal soundness and accountability for the delivery of high-quality education. Working in a culture of collaboration and shared governance on the campus, the President will partner with elected officials, civic officers, and industry executives, off of the campus. In addition, the President should demonstrate strong ethical behavior and moral judgment as well as a commitment to social justice and academic excellence.

Candidates should possess an earned doctorate or terminal degree, an effective and charismatic persona, and can come from academia, the government/non-profit sector, or industry. This individual should have evidence of exceptional and effective fiscal and organizational leadership in a complex environment with a record of success in innovation, team building, and resource development; and a commitment to openness, integrity and consultative decision-making.
