The Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI), part of the Universities Space Research Association, invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship as part of an international team at NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) in Houston, Texas. 


Position Summary:


The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Geochemistry, or a related field and have a background in the curation of Astromaterials samples. The successful candidate shall support requirements for future Curation facilities by joining the advanced curation team and assisting facilities planning efforts for the Astromaterials Acquisition & Curation Office at JSC. The position will focus on contamination control and knowledge so that new curation facilities are designed and constructed with a clear understanding of the contamination in these future facilities as well as current Astromaterials research facilities housed within the same JSC complex. These projects will prepare NASA for OSIRIS-REx samples, future New Frontier samples and ultimately Mars samples.




  • PhD in Planetary Sciences, Geosciences or related fields.

Working Conditions:


This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Extensive online usage. This is largely a sedentary role.




Up to 50% travel.
