We’re looking for a toxicologist or risk assessment scientist to join us in the Southeastern U.S. (Kennesaw, GA or Tampa, FL) to work on diverse assessment and regulatory/applied toxicology projects. Our projects include multi‑media risk assessments, product safety and regulatory compliance, and litigation support for toxic tort, workers’ compensation, and product liability cases. Our ideal candidate would have between two and five years of experience on these types of projects, but we’re open to candidates with up to ten years of experience, particularly those with significant experience working with attorneys.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals as you move to the next stage of your career? Some of the key responsibilities for this Toxicologist/Risk Assessment Scientist position include:

  • Environmental statistics and contaminant fate & transport evaluations;

  • Conducting literature searches and critical review/interpretation of toxicological studies and reports;

  • Conducting data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;

  • Fieldwork such as soil, groundwater, or vapor intrusion/indoor air sampling; and

  • Preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, and proposals.

Based on your current level of experience, you may be asked to take on task-level or project management responsibilities, along with business development, staff management, and mentoring tasks. Here are some other things you should know about this position:

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, CPR training and medical monitoring, all paid for by Geosyntec. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.

  • Some fieldwork and overnight travel will be necessary.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in toxicology, public health, or related health science discipline.  [required]

  • Advanced degree (MS, MPH, PhD) in toxicology, public health, or related health science discipline. [preferred]

  • Course work specifically related to toxicology, hazardous waste regulations, and chemical fate & transport in the environment. [preferred]

  • Approximately 2 to 5 years of work experience in an environmental consulting or regulatory environment. [preferred]

  • Working knowledge of relevant federal regulations, especially CERCLA and RCRA. [preferred]

  • Experience working on demanding, sophisticated, and legally sensitive projects. [preferred]

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access, ProUCL, and the IEUBK Model. [preferred]

  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. [preferred]

  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. [required]
