UES, Inc., has an opportunity available for a Synthetic Biologist to join our team working at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. This position will be the technical lead in Synthetic Biology research for Military Environments effort within the Air Force Research Laboratory Materials and Manufacturing Directorate (AFRL/RXAS). This position will work independently in this research area to advance the synthetic biology efforts. Significant growth of this research area is anticipated, and this individual will help to shape the synthetic biology research vision.
Successful candidates will have expertise in bacterial physiology, bacterial genetics and protein biochemistry. Experience in biofilms, bioinformatics and/or biomaterials would be a plus. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate willingness to work in a collaborative team, as the projects this position will support are part of a larger Department of Defense research effort. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or closely related field of study
Relevant postdoctoral experience is preferred, but not necessary.
Ability to work both independently to create a project and in a group, is a must.
This position is working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship.
