Position Summary

Professor Waseem Haider is seeking a post doctoral research scientist in the area of Materials Science and Engineering. The initial appointment will be for 12 months, beginning on or around Sept 16, 2017. Responsibilities include performing experiments, organizing and analyzing data collected, working with students and principal investigators, writing research proposals/grants and peer-reviewed manuscripts, monitoring and management, and assisting in the coordination of research projects.

Required Qualifications

Required qualifications for the position include a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering or closely related field such as Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics etc. within the last six years. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the areas of Biomaterials, Tissue Engineering, Drug Delivery, Electrochemistry, Surface Science and Material Characterization is preferred.

About the Department

The School of Engineering and Technology currently offers two ABET accredited engineering programs in electrical engineering (BSEE) and mechanical engineering (BSME), and initiated a computer engineering program in fall 2012. The School of Engineering and Technology presently has 25 full-time faculty members and also offers undergraduate majors in mechanical and industrial engineering technology, and construction management. The School also started an MS in engineering program in 2015. Courses are taught in an attractive 70,000 square foot engineering and technology building which houses more than twenty laboratories and support spaces.
