Location: Pittsburgh, PA or Mountain View, CA

Closes: Dec 15, 2017 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Information Networking Institute (INI) at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is soliciting applications for a teaching faculty position at all levels for CMU’s main campus in Pittsburgh, PA, and Silicon Valley campus in Mountain View, CA.

The INI is part of Carnegie Mellon’s College of Engineering, a Top Ten engineering school as ranked by U.S. News and World Report. The INI offers master’s degree programs in Information Networking, Information Security, and Mobility. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of these fields, the INI collaborates with several departments in the College of Engineering, the School of Computer Science, the Tepper School of Business and the H. John Heinz III College in order to equip students with advanced knowledge in technology as well as a disciplined foundation in business management and policy. INI students have the unprecedented flexibility to take courses across all of these reputable colleges.

We are currently seeking faculty candidates who support our core technical areas of Mobile Systems and Security as well as other closely related areas such as Data Analysis and Machine Learning. Faculty on the teaching track have a primary responsibility of designing and leading courses and projects for INI students and typically teach two or three courses per semester, but may also have research and service responsibilities. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching a diverse student population. Although preference will be given to those with a documented track record of teaching experience, candidates with a robust research background or experience in industry or government will also be considered for the position.

The position is open to individuals who hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or closely related fields. Depending on a candidate’s teaching history and qualifications, positions will be offered at the appropriate level: Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor.

We believe our people -- students, alumni, faculty, and staff -- are our core strength. We emphasize excellence, integrity, respect, collegiality, interdisciplinarity, continuous improvement and engagement in community, all within a welcoming, supportive and inspiring teaching and learning environment. We are particularly interested in applicants who are committed to, and have passion for, a culturally diverse environment in research and/or teaching, and who demonstrate a willingness to nurture the inclusive Carnegie Mellon environment. We take pride and active steps towards considering a diverse applicant pool in terms of gender, race, veteran status and disability. Carnegie Mellon University seeks to meet the needs of dual-career couples and is a member of the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) that assists with dual-career searches.

Carnegie Mellon University is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to increasing the diversity of its community on a range of intellectual and cultural dimensions. Carnegie Mellon welcomes faculty applicants who will contribute to this diversity through their research, teaching and service, including women, members of minority groups, protected veterans, individuals with disabilities, and others who would contribute in different ways.

Individuals interested in INI’s open faculty positions should submit an application online by December 15, 2017: http://apply.interfolio.com/45861
