Position Summary:


It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide the learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of the course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. The faculty member's role encompasses the general areas of learning facilitation, professional development, and institutional service. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.


Job Functions:


  1. Teaches courses in Information Technology under the Bachelors of Applied Technology degree at a variety of times in response to institutional needs

  2. Assist department with the review and update of all IT lab equipment

  3. Review industry trends and work with faculty, the advisory board and System Office to update IT programs

  4. Makes continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods

  5. Develops and uses a syllabus for each course or laboratory within college and departmental guidelines

  6. Plans, develops and uses a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course and program objectives which are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles

  7. Evaluates students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course and program objectives and informs them in a timely manner of their progress in the course

  8. Submits required college reports and forms

  9. Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials

  10. Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community

  11. Provides access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods

  12. Responsible for professional development and institutional service as determined in consultation with the Dean (may include participating in program reviews for improvement and approvals, as well as service on department, college, and System committees)

  13. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

Physical Abilities:

  • Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand in order to demonstrate the use of medical equipment and devices

  • Close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing medical equipment screens, monitors, and computer terminals

Commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
Work Schedule & Conditions:
Work is performed primarily in a climate controlled office or medical clinic/facility environment with exposure to health or safety hazards typical of those in a medical/clinical environment.

  • PhD or terminal degree in a field of Information Technology or Management Information Systems, and 3 years non-teaching work experience in a field of Information Technology.

Must hold a current  industry certification in one of the following fields:

  • Cisco

  • Microsoft

  • Cybersecurity

  • Information Systems Security

  • CompTIA Security+


  • Experience using innovative strategies and technology to engage students in the classroom.

  • Experience training or teaching complex IT concepts to adult learners

  • Certification in one of the following areas:

CEH: Certified Ethical Hacker
GSEC: SANS GIAC Security Essentials
CISSP: Certified Information Systems Security Professional
CISM: Certified Information Security Manager
