The Louisiana Community and Technical College System invites nominations and applications for the premier leadership position of Chancellor at Nunez Community College.

Located in St. Bernard Parish in Southeast Louisiana, Nunez Community College is a recognized and respected leader in workforce development and a producer of associate degree and certificate graduates. Nunez Community College offers high-demand, high-income programs aligned to the area’s economic drivers such as process technology, healthcare, industrial maintenance, pipefitting, construction, culinary entrepreneurship, HVAC, and welding.In 2016, Nunez provided services for more than 4,180 students in credit, non-credit, and adult education programs. The college campus is a modern destination for the communities it serves and features two new state-of-the-art buildings and several recently renovated buildings. Nunez offers over 25 degree, certificate, and certified training programs and a variety of pathways for students interested in participating in the workforce or transferring to a four-year university.

As a valued pillar of the community, Nunez is a vibrant force in St. Bernard Parish and the surrounding areas served by the college. St. Bernard Parish is family oriented, plus rich in history and culture. The region has a diverse economy supported by fisheries and agriculture as well as major industrial and petrochemical industries, port, commercial and retail businesses. Recreational opportunities abound for fishing, bird watching and boating as well as opportunities to visit major historic sites.

Nunez’s chancellorship is an exciting opportunity for a leader who is a strong advocate for educational excellence, the bridging of academic and technical education, service to students, and providing new and innovative workforce solutions.

The Chancellor reports to the System President of the Louisiana Community & Technical College System. The Louisiana Community and Technical College System is comprised of 13 colleges that offer relevant academic and workforce training across the state. In 2017, Louisiana's community and technical colleges collectively served more than 131,000 students in credit, workforce training, and adult education programs with more than 24,800 graduates.

Louisiana’s community and technical colleges have adopted an aggressive five-year public agenda entitled Our Louisiana 2020: Building the Workforce of Tomorrow. This public agenda is in response to the state’s unprecedented economic and workforce forecast which calls for tens of thousands of skilled workers over the next 10 years. The next Chancellor must understand and embrace Nunez’s role in helping its students, the community and the region meet these goals.

The Desired Qualifications for the next Chancellor of Nunez Community College Include:

The leadership ability to set and articulate a vision and strategic plan for Nunez, particularly focusing on greater inclusion of the Nunez faculty, staff and students in developing that vision and plan, while also working with community stakeholders to ensure relevance to the needs of the region.
A comprehensive understanding of the key role the college plays throughout the community and region and the willingness to make a long-term commitment to the College and to all those served by Nunez.
A passion for the role and mission of community colleges and the technical programs offered in Louisiana.
An unwavering commitment and dedication to supporting and growing a culture of inclusion and diversity throughout the College community.
A commitment to investing in the ongoing professional development of faculty and staff at all levels.
A proven track record of successful senior management experience including sound business practices and financial management.
An exceptional communicator, listener and visible leader who inspires confidence and will seek out and value input and contributions from employees, students, and the community.
A commitment to ensuring appropriate linkages and balance between academic and technical education.
Demonstrated leadership in the transfer mission.
A strong background in workforce development.
A collaborative individual who supports expansion of student services initiatives.
An individual willing to use technology and new teaching methods to creatively address future workforce demands as well as changing degree, certificate and program needs.
A strong, compassionate and inclusive leader who believes in positive leadership, flexibility and accessibility.
The ability to communicate and work effectively with legislators, elected and government officials as well as community and business leaders as part of a system-wide team, to build consensus and to advocate on behalf of the College.
The experience and demonstrated ability to build external relationships with community partners, leaders and citizens to promote Nunez and expand its visibility and place within the community and region.
The ability to develop and maintain relationships and collaboration with local and state elected officials, K-12 educators and other colleges/universities.
The Required Qualifications for the next Chancellor are:

A minimum of 5 years high-level executive experience with demonstrated performance of exceptional quality, preferably in a comprehensive community college.
Administrative experience in other disciplines will also be considered.
An earned master’s degree; an earned doctorate with a background in higher education administration is preferred.
