The Department of Chemistry at Ursinus College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in biochemistry starting fall 2018.
The successful candidate will join a seven-member, ACS-certified department and will participate in the biochemistry and molecular biology program run jointly by the biology and chemistry departments. The chemistry department is housed in Pfahler Hall and offers dedicated student research laboratories and instruments suitable for undergraduate research.
We are seeking applicants who are committed to excellence in undergraduate education and research at a highly selective liberal arts college. Teaching responsibilities will include biophysical chemistry, fundamentals of biochemistry, contributing to the two-semester sequence of biochemistry lecture and laboratory courses, and other chemistry courses appropriate to the candidate’s expertise. The successful candidate will also teach the Common Intellectual Experience (CIE), an interdisciplinary freshman seminar. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an active research program in biochemistry that engages undergraduate students.
Requirements and Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry. Post-doctoral research experience is preferred.
