This Research Scientist position is responsible for designing, building and running high temperature/high pressure complex lab experiments in the oil field chemistry technical area for simulating field conditions to assist predicting and solving production issues. This individual should have specialized hands on lab experience with proven track record in most areas of production chemistry (scale, corrosion, heavy metal, emulsion, water treating, etc.).  This position will help identify gaps and formulate plans to fill those technical gaps.  This position is responsible for generating technical ideas for development and leading strategic projects.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Apply in-depth knowledge of production chemistry (scale, heavy metal, emulsion, corrosion, water treating, etc.) and chemical behavior of produced fluids (both oil and water) to field development and operations

Design high to ultra-high temperature/high pressure lab experiments and run the lab following OE guidelines
Lead/contribute to various production chemistry-related projects as needed
Identify technical gaps, generate new ideas, and lead Strategic Research/Technical Development projects
Ensure lab safety - laboratory Operational Excellence/Health, Environment, Safety


Required Qualificatioins:


PhD in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geochemistry or Chemistry is required; Chemistry or Geochemistry
4+ years of upstream oil and gas experience.
Technical Skills: in-depth knowledge of production chemistry (scale, heavy metal, emulsion, corrosion, water treating, etc.)and chemistry/physical behaviors of produced fluids (both oil and water)  and related chemicals application in the field, integrated with equipment and system design.  Ability to design and operate high to ultra-high temperature/high pressure lab experiments to mimic field conditions. Updated with state of the art technologies.
Lab & Field Experience:
Strong background in oil field scale prediction and control and high temperature and pressure tests. Hands on lab experience with high pressure, high temperature lab experiments for scale and corrosion issues. 
Strong background and extensive experience in fluid chemistry data understanding and interpretation. Hands on experience in fluid characterization (ions, heavy metal, etc.) and chemistry
Extensive working experience in in leading lab/experimental-based study and maintaining lab and test safety
Extensive field hands-on experience to provide technical consultation on oilfield chemistry issues.
R&D Project Management:  Strong interest in production chemistry related R&D projects. Strategic research, technical development, technical service demand project management and execution
Communication & Teamwork: Strong leadership and strong verbal/written communication skills. Ability to efficiently communicate and collaborate. Experience working effectively in cross-functional teams in a multi-cultural environment. This individual will be able to work independently and contribute as part of a team.
