Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, is one of the world's leading research universities in nanoelectronics and nanomaterials. The newly established Physical Electronics Research Laboratory (PERL) in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, led by Prof. Pedram Khalili (http://www.mccormick.northwestern.edu/research-faculty/directory/profiles/khalili-pedram.html), has multiple opportunities for postdoctoral researchers with expertise in spintronics.
We are seeking candidates in each of the following areas:
(i) Design, film deposition, fabrication, and characterization of spintronic devices (e.g. magnetic tunnel junctions, spin-orbit torque devices, spin wave devices). Hands-on experience in using advanced PVD systems is required.
(ii) RF, microwave, and millimeter wave experience including device measurements, design, and layout. Hands-on high-frequency measurement experience is required.
Additional desired qualifications include: Deep understanding of spin dynamics in metallic nanostructures (e.g. spin waves, oscillations and switching); experience in micromagnetic simulations; design of CMOS integrated circuits e.g. for memory, analog, and RF; understanding of integrated circuit fabrication and process technology.
Candidates should be highly motivated and self-driven, with excellent teamwork and inter-personal skills. Successful candidates will be working on high-profile research projects in collaboration with other top tier universities and the semiconductor industry, hence strong communication skills are a must. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or other related field.
Interested candidates should take action by emailing their resume (in PDF Format) to Prof. Pedram Khalili at pedram (at) perlab (dot) org for immediate consideration. Please mention “spintronics postdoc search” on the subject line.
